Emergency Services (E911) Policy & Limitations

Last Updated May 18, 2026

This Emergency Services Policy (“Policy”) is part of the VOIPx3 Terms of Service and governs your use of VOIPx3 voice services, including desk phones, softphones, and mobile applications (“Services”).

1 IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING EMERGENCY CALLING

Emergency calling using VOIPx3 Services is different from traditional landline or cellular telephone service.

If you are not comfortable with these limitations, you should maintain an alternative means of accessing emergency services (e.g., a mobile phone or landline).

If you are an account administrator, you are responsible for ensuring that all users understand these limitations.

2 HOW E911 SERVICE WORKS

Registered Location Requirement

You must provide and maintain an accurate physical address (“Registered Location”) for each phone number or extension.

This address is used to:

  • Route emergency calls to the appropriate local response center
  • Provide location information to emergency personnel

Failure to maintain an accurate Registered Location may result in:

  • Delayed emergency response
  • Incorrect routing of your call

Updating Your Location

You are responsible for updating your Registered Location whenever you move your device.

  • Updates may be made through your admin portal or by contacting support
  • Changes may not take effect immediately in all cases
  • Emergency calls may be routed based on your previous address until updates are processed

3 HOW CALLS ARE ROUTED

When you dial 911 (or the applicable emergency number):

  • Calls are routed based on your Registered Location
  • Your phone number and Registered Location may be provided to emergency responders
  • In some cases, calls may be routed to a national emergency call center rather than a local center

You must be prepared to:

  • Provide your current location verbally
  • Provide a call-back number

If your call is disconnected, you should call again immediately.

4 MOBILE & APP LIMITATIONS

Smartphone Apps

VOIPx3 mobile applications may rely on your device’s native dialer for emergency calls.

  • Emergency calls may be handled by your cellular provider instead of VOIPx3
  • The app is not a replacement for traditional wireless service

Wi-Fi & Non-Cellular Devices

Emergency calling may not function properly on:

  • Wi-Fi-only devices
  • Tablets or devices without native dialers
  • Devices without active cellular service

5 SERVICE LIMITATIONS

Emergency services may not be available or may be limited under certain conditions, including:

  • Internet or power outages
  • Service suspension or termination
  • Network congestion or technical issues
  • Use of Services outside the country of registration
  • Use in countries where emergency routing is not supported

VOIPx3 does not guarantee that emergency calls will be successfully completed or routed.

6 CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and current Registered Location information
  • Informing all users of emergency calling limitations
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintaining alternative means of contacting emergency services

You should notify all employees, users, and guests who may use the Services of these limitations.

7 REQUIRED NOTIFICATIONS

Where required by law, you must:

  • Inform users that emergency calling may be limited
  • Post or affix warning notices on devices (if applicable)
  • Ensure users understand how emergency calling works

8 THIRD-PARTY DEPENDENCIES

VOIPx3 relies on third-party providers to route emergency calls.

We do not control:

  • Emergency response centers
  • Emergency personnel
  • Third-party networks or routing systems

9 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

VOIPx3 disclaims all liability for:

  • Failure or delay in emergency call routing
  • Incorrect or incomplete location information
  • Actions or omissions of emergency service providers or third parties

You acknowledge that emergency services depend on factors outside of our control.

10 INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify and hold VOIPx3 harmless from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from:

  • Failure to maintain accurate location information
  • Failure to notify users of service limitations
  • Inability to access emergency services
  • Any misuse of VOIPx3 Services related to emergency calling

11 RECOMMENDATION

VOIPx3 strongly recommends that you:

  • Maintain a backup method for contacting emergency services
  • Regularly verify your Registered Location
  • Train users on emergency procedures
